Job Summary:
WSP is a leading engineering and professional services firm dedicated to serving local communities. They are seeking an Environmental Data Analytics Specialist to support projects with their Environment, Remediation, and Water Team, focusing on data manipulation, management, and analysis within various software environments.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Perform both geographic and non-geographic data manipulation, data management and analysis, and develop/use automated data management processes using a variety of software environments.
โ€ข Revise existing GIS layers and create new layers following established standards and procedures
โ€ข Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurement and documentation.
โ€ข Assist with performing basic professional environmental science work relating to ecological systems, air, and water resources, assisting with verifying the characteristics of a site and providing entry-level technical assistance on various environmental issues.
โ€ข Work on multiple projects simultaneously, with a commitment to keeping projects on time and within budget
โ€ข Work in a production-oriented environment as part of a team
โ€ข Prepare technical documentation of project requirements, procedures, execution, and implementation plans
โ€ข Maintain metadata and best practices to support systems and data
โ€ข Assist in the preparation of various analytical reports and monthly progress reports suitable for meetings
โ€ข Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSPโ€™s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Chemistry, Natural Resources Management, Geography, Computer Science, GIS, or a related science field.
โ€ข 1-3 years of experience in Environmental data.
โ€ข Experience using ESRI's ArcGIS Pro (ArcMap, ArcCatalog)
โ€ข Basic familiarity with database development and management (using MS Access and/or EQuIS)
โ€ข Basic familiarity with programming languages (for example Python, R, or Visual Basic)
โ€ข Familiarity with other Microsoft Office software (Excel, Office, Word, Access, and PowerPoint)
โ€ข Must possess good organizational and oral and written communication skills
โ€ข Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
โ€ข Excellent analytical / problem-solving skills
โ€ข Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.
โ€ข Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
โ€ข Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
โ€ข Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSPโ€™s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred:
โ€ข Masterโ€™s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Chemistry, Natural Resources Management, Geography, Computer Science, GIS, or a related science field.
