Job Description:
Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Construction Inspector to work within the Environmental Dredging and Restoration Division Engineering Section supporting our Maryland Port Administration Dredged Material Containment Facility projects, primarily the Anne Arundel County and Baltimore City Facilities at Cox Creek and Masonville. The successful applicant will provide construction inspection for construction and dredging projects ranging from remediation and marine construction to large earth-moving projects.
Responsibilities include performing inspection services and maintaining records of site activities, performing erosion and sediment control inspections, potentially performing on-site sample testing or collection of samples for off-site laboratories, and assisting Engineers and Construction Managers with project documentation and contractor coordination. May respond to Clients and Contractors regarding standards, specifications and inspection procedures after consultation with supervision.
Estimated Pay Range:
Inspector Trainee: $43,592,64 - $59,928.96
Inspector: $47,938.80 - $65,934.96
Senior Inspector: $52,743.60 - $72,530.64

Minimum Requirements:
Must be able to operate personal computers using word processing and spreadsheet software, communicate effectively, orally and in writing and be able to follow oral and written instructions. May be required to assist equipment operators and other personnel for routine manual labor tasks such as grounds and facility maintenance, loading of supplies and materials for delivery.
Familiarity with understanding and reading construction drawings, scopes of work and specifications preferred.
Inspector Trainee Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from a standard High School or GED.
Inspector Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from a standard High School or GED plus one year of work experience related to construction or construction inspection.
Senior Inspector Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from a standard High School or GED plus three years of work experience related to construction or construction inspection.
This position will be open until filled.
The Inspector Trainee and Inspector classification levels are eligible for on-spot, contingent offers. Candidates who apply after an on-spot offer has been extended (including internal candidates) will not be considered unless the candidate who receives the on-spot, contingent offer does not complete the process to become an MES employee.
Any offer of employment will be contingent upon successfully completing required pre-employment screens, to include full background check, drug & alcohol screening, and position appropriate physical.
