Are you an experienced Senior Environmental Specialist with expertise in asbestos, lead-based paint, PCB, and mold investigations? Our services span civil/site engineering, transportation engineering, electrical engineering, landscape architecture, architecture, planning, environmental services, land surveying, GIS, construction inspection, precast, and construction engineering, each offering opportunities to shape communities and improve lives.
What You'll Do
  • Plan and implement regulated hazardous building materials surveys for renovation and demolition projects, including asbestos, lead-based paint, PCB-caulk, mold, and other hazardous and universal wastes.
  • Conduct bulk sampling, homogeneous area assessments, data analysis, quantification, and prepare detailed survey reports and sampling location plans.
  • Develop project-specific asbestos and hazardous materials abatement plans and associated technical specifications in compliance with OSHA, EPA, AHERA, NESHAP, TSCA, ICR 56, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Adhere to the project scheduling requirements for schematic design, design development, construction and bid document submittals.
  • Prepare hazardous waste management plans aligned with federal, state, and local regulations and requirements, including 6 NYCRR Parts 360, 364, and 370-373.
  • Serve as technical lead for major project phases, applying independent judgment in regulatory interpretation and problem resolution.
  • Provide construction administration support, including submittal review, request for information responses, contractor coordination, and regulatory agency communication.
  • Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and deliverables to ensure quality, compliance, and client satisfaction.
  • Support proposal development, cost estimating, and business development initiatives.
  • Mentor and guide junior environmental staff to strengthen technical capability and team growth.

Requirements
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with 5+ years of experience in hazardous building materials, environmental compliance, or asbestos consulting.
  • Active OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER (with a current annual 8-Hour refresher) and valid NYS driver's license.
  • NYSDOL-Certified Asbestos Building Inspector and Asbestos Project Designer required.
  • Additional certifications preferred: USEPA Lead Inspector and Risk Assessor, NYSDOL Article 32 Mold Assessor, Asbestos Project Monitor, and NYSDOH Radioactive Materials License (XRF).
  • Experience preparing Hazardous Waste Management Plans and interpreting federal/NYS regulations.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, Survey123, and the ability to read architectural renovation and demolition drawings with knowledge of building systems (HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, insulation, and building materials).

Salary Range $38.75-$41.25 Hourly

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to follow Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and Health & Safety Plans, and properly use required PPE, including respirators, Tyvek suits, gloves, hard hats, eye/hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
  • Ability to work in office, field, and construction environments with exposure to dust, noise, fumes, temperature extremes, heights, and inclement weather.
  • Ability to pass annual physicals, including respirator fit and pulmonary testing.
  • Flexibility to work occasional extended or modified hours as needed.
