Summary
PD is looking for an ambitious, curious, and optimistic Recruiting Specialist. You're people-focused, know how to get things done and can jump into a mix of recruiting from the shop floor to the office and quickly figure out how to find the right talent. You are organized, but flexible - able to juggle multiple openings. You enjoy working closely with hiring managers, asking the right questions and helping teams make confident hiring decisions. You take pride in creating a great candidate experience and building pipelines for skilled trades within high school and technical schools.
The Recruiting Specialist supports PD Instore's hiring needs across corporate, manufacturing, and project-based roles by managing full-cycle recruitment and building talent pipelines. This role is designed to provide immediate recruiting support during periods of increased hiring demand, while also contributing to key talent initiatives and workforce development efforts.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for roles including skilled trades, project management, engineering, and corporate functions.
  • Partner with hiring managers to define hiring needs, timelines, and candidate profiles.
  • Build pipelines for high-demand roles (e.g., CNC machinists, model makers, project managers, installers).
  • Source candidates through job boards, direct outreach, trade schools, and partnerships (e.g., Hennepin Tech).
  • Screen candidates, conduct interviews, and coordinate hiring team interviews.
  • Ensure a strong candidate experience from application through onboarding.
  • Manage job postings, ATS activity, and recruiting communications.
  • Coordinate offers, background checks, and pre-employment processes.
  • Track and report on recruiting metrics.

Project & Strategic Responsibilities
  • Support workforce development initiatives and technical school partnerships
  • Assist with internship, apprenticeship, and entry-level talent pipelines
  • Participate in recruiting events, career fairs, and facility tours
  • Help support hiring ramp-ups tied to large client projects or production demand
  • Contribute to recruiting process improvements and HR operational projects

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2-5 years of recruiting experience, ideally in manufacturing, skilled trades, or project-based environments
  • Experience recruiting for roles such as production, CNC, engineering, or project management preferred
  • Strong sourcing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience with ATS platforms and recruiting tools
  • Ability to manage multiple requisitions in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of employment laws and hiring best practices

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience partnering with trade schools or technical colleges
  • Background supporting project-based or custom manufacturing environments

Key Competencies
  • Relationship building and collaboration
  • Organizational skills and prioritization
  • Adaptability and problem-solving
  • Attention to detail and follow-through
  • Passion for skilled trades workforce development

Work Environment
  • Hybrid role with time in both office and manufacturing settings
  • Occasional travel for interviewing, recruiting events and school partnerships
  • Walking, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting may be required throughout the workday
