Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Manager within the Education and Training Department at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
The Program Manager assists the Associate Director of Education and Training, in strategic planning, development, and implementation of educational programs at the Rutgers Cancer Institute. This position oversees and implements education and training initiatives for students at all academic levels, including high school, undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral fellows, and early-stage investigators. The Program Manager works collaboratively with faculty, the Director, and other institutional stakeholders to advance the Institute's educational mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Assists the Associate Director in planning, developing, and implementing cancer research education and training programs. Creates and coordinates educational initiatives, including schedules, workshops, seminars, and other training activities for students, trainees, faculty, and staff that align with the identified goals and mission of RCI and the Education and Training Dept.
  • Manages day-to-day departmental operations, including program logistics, finances, and personnel administrative functions. Including management of subordinate staff, including hiring/firing, evaluation, and performance management.
  • Researches, designs, and develops curriculum for new programs and training grants.
  • Gathers curriculum evaluations and feedback, identifies areas of improvement, and completes strategic assessments of educational programs and activities. Adjusts programming to incorporate feedback and identify improvements.
  • Tracks program metrics, analyze results, and prepare reports. Creates brochures, training grants, and other program-related documentation.
  • Liaisons with faculty, trainees, community partners, and institutional stakeholders for programmatic initiatives. Identifies opportunities and educational gaps, create solutions and creates new trainings or course corrections.
  • Assists in identifying and managing funding opportunities for educational programs, including grant submissions.
  • Provides guidance, mentoring, and support to high school, undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral trainees in formal programs.
  • Oversees recruitment, placement, and tracking of students, postdoctoral fellows, and interns within the Cancer Research Education and Training programs.
  • Collaborates with faculty to support training infrastructure across scientific programs at the Cancer Institute.
