Summary:
The Environmental Program Manager is responsible for overseeing, developing, and implementing environmental programs and initiatives within the organization. This role ensures compliance with environmental laws and regulations, drives standardization on efficiency, manages environmental risks, and promotes best practices. The Environmental Program Manager collaborates with internal teams, regulatory agencies, and external partners to achieve environmental objectives and foster a culture of excellence.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and manage environmental programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Lead and develop a team of environmental staff responsible for the day to day branch/hub/depot facility compliance
  • Monitor and evaluate environmental performance, preparing feedback to business manager partners on environmental performance. Track and analyze environmental data, ensuring accurate data maintenance and compiling of metrics for internal reporting.
  • Continuous improvement of incident management procedures; lead the environmental team through the RCI process, communicating and implementing lessons learned throughout the organization.
  • Validate company compliance programs through environmental audits/risk assessments for internal and external facilities. Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions. Lead customer audits of CC facilities
  • Provide tools and training to EHS teams. Develop and assist in the creation of corporate environmental training content.
  • Oversee and participate in permitting projects and due diligence integration.
  • Lead incident investigations related to environmental issues and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Resolve facility and customer regulatory compliance issues
  • Stay current with emerging environmental regulations, trends, and best practices, providing guidance to field teams and staff.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in environmental management, compliance, or a similar role.
  • Thorough knowledge of environmental regulations (RCRA, DOT).
  • Experience managing environmental programs and leading multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to interpret and apply environmental regulations.
  • Leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and interpretation
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Working Conditions:
Environmental Program Managers typically work in the corporate office but may also spend time in the field. Reports to the VP of EHS. Supervises environmental specialists.
