Job description

Hawk Mtn Labs is currently seeking a Laboratory Analyst for our VOC Laboratory.

HawkMtn Labs (HML) is an independent privately owned, analytical Laboratory, located in the Hazleton, PA area near Interstates 81 and 80. HML's environmental laboratory resources are designed to provide high quality analysis of drinking water, groundwater, wastewater and solid waste characterization. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in building a career in environmental science and laboratory analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

The Laboratory Analyst will play a key role in analyzing organics and other environmental materials in various sample matrices. The ideal candidate will have a chemistry background, a commitment to quality and safety, and experience with laboratory instrumentation is a plus.

● Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses of organics and other substances in environmental samples using advanced instrumentation, such as GC-MS.

● Prepare and process environmental samples, including digestion, extraction, and filtration, in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

● Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments to ensure accurate and reliable results.

● Interpret analytical data and prepare detailed reports summarizing findings.

● Adhere to strict quality control procedures, including the analysis of blanks, duplicates, and standards.

● Comply with laboratory safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards.

● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project timelines and ensure client satisfaction.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Experience:

● 2+ years of laboratory experience preferred, but not required.

● Familiarity with environmental testing methods (e.g., EPA, ASTM, or ISO) is highly desirable.

Skills:

● Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation.

● Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

● Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Certifications (optional): Relevant certifications in laboratory practices or instrumentation are a plus.
