Job description

Job Introduction
Graymont is seeking a temporary Laboratory Chemist based out of Graymont's Sandy, Utah regional office. The Laboratory Chemist offers flexible hours.
United States - UT - Sandy
This entry level position is a great opportunity for a recent college graduate holding a degree in physical sciences.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
โ€ข Prepare incoming samples for further testing in the lab. Includes operating a chipmunk crusher and disc pulverizer.
โ€ข Clean and organize workspace.
โ€ข Conduct testing in support of applications-based research using established procedures.
โ€ข Conduct testing on lime products and other raw materials using various chemical and physical procedures.
โ€ข Ensure that established Lab turnaround times are met.
โ€ข Properly dispose of hazardous and nonhazardous material. May include transporting materials to off-site locations.
โ€ข Perform basic troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of instruments/equipment.
โ€ข Perform basic calibration and maintain calibration logs.
โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
โ€ข Ability to understand and follow laboratory safety procedures.
โ€ข Must work well with others.
โ€ข Willing to travel and work in plant environment.
โ€ข B.S. degree in Chemistry or related field.
โ€ข Must have a working knowledge of basic analytical techniques.
โ€ข Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.
โ€ข Good communication (both written and verbal).
โ€ข Must be meticulous and able to work safely and independently.
โ€ข Knowledge of sample preparation equipment and techniques.
โ€ข Ability to lift 50 pounds and sit or stand for long periods of time.
