Position Summary
The Global Environmental Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving environmental compliance, sustainability, and environmental risk management programs across our Copeland facilities. This role ensures compliance with environmental regulations, corporate standards, and customer requirements while supporting operational excellence, sustainability initiatives, and Copeland's commitment to environmental stewardship.
The position partners closely with plant leadership, operations, engineering, maintenance, and EHS teams to drive consistent environmental performance across manufacturing sites in North America, Europe, Middle East, India and Asia.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Compliance & Risk Management
  • Develop and maintain global environmental management systems and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, including air emissions, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, chemical management, and permitting requirements.
  • Interpret regulatory changes and communicate impacts to manufacturing sites.
  • Conduct environmental compliance audits and assessments at global facilities.
  • Lead investigations of environmental incidents, permit exceedances, and regulatory findings, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive consistency in environmental management practices while accounting for regional regulatory requirements.

Manufacturing Support
  • Provide environmental engineering support for:
    • Compressor manufacturing processes
    • Metalworking operations
    • Painting and coating systems
    • Refrigerant handling operations
    • Chemical management programs
    • Utilities and energy systems
  • Support capital projects to ensure environmental compliance and sustainability objectives are incorporated into project design.
  • Assist facilities with permit applications, renewals, and environmental reporting.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related engineering discipline required.

Experience
  • 7+ years of environmental compliance and environmental engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting multiple facilities and jurisdictions.
  • Experience in global manufacturing operations preferred.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Experience conducting environmental audits and compliance assessments.
  • Must be fully authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Technical Knowledge
Strong knowledge of:
  • Air emissions permitting and compliance
