A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).Qualifications:To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Experience in designing new construction or improvements to existing facilities; assisting in resolving issues with contracts and construction activities; and evaluating designs and specifications to ensure conformance with project requirements and budget
OR Master's degree in engineering or a related field or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree in engineering or a related field
OR bachelor's degree in an engineering program with Superior Academic Achievement AND 1 year of appropriate professional experience
OR completed a 5-year program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering AND 1 year of appropriate professional experience
OR a combination of graduate level education in engineering or a related field AND specialized experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. Qualifying graduate education is in excess of 18 semester hours
OR currently enrolled in a professional master's degree in engineering or a related field or equivalent graduate degree, certified ABET and expect to complete the qualifying education within 9 months.
Superior Academic Achievement: One of the following three needs to be met for Superior Academic Achievement: (1) Class Standing- upper third of the graduating class. (2) Grade-Point Average- 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on official transcript or based on courses completed during final 2 years of curriculum; OR 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on average of required courses completed in major, or required courses in major completed during the final 2 years of curriculum. (3) Honor Society Membership- election to membership in a national scholastic honor society.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
