Job description

Description:

Hana Engineers and Consultants, LLC (Hana) an environmental remediation, construction, demolition, and field services company, is seeking an entry-level or experienced Environmental Construction Laborer to join our growing team as a full-time employee. The Candidate will work remotely, with ideal location in the northern Virginia, eastern West Virginia, or western Maryland area. The position requires extensive travel with lodging and per diem provided.

Job Description:

  • The position involves heavy labor on various tasks associated with construction

Core Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Excavation using a variety of hand tools
  • Installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment controls
  • Operation and maintenance of pumps and treatment systems
  • Overseeing delivery and off-loading of supplies and materials
  • Heavy equipment operation
  • Occasional use of respirators, protective suits, and other personal protective equipment may be required

Specific Qualifications:

  • Must possess excellent oral communication skills and must work well with staff and subcontractors
  • Experience operating and maintaining small and heavy equipment is a plus (e.g., excavators, skidsteer, water trucks, offroad dump trucks, and sweeper)
  • Having a commercial driver’s license (CDL) is also a plus
  • High School Diploma, GED, or vocational school. College or technical training courses in environmental science or a related field a plus
  • A valid driver’s license is required, and a safe driving record as measured by company policy
  • Preferred is 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate and current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher certificate; however, training will be provided for qualified entry-level candidates
  • Employment is dependent upon the findings of a background check; most of our work is performed at federal facilities which requires a background check for access.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work may be performed under extreme weather conditions including hot and cold temperatures
  • Tasks involve bending, lifting, walking, carrying, and using a force equal to lifting 50 to 100 pounds
  • Employment is dependent upon passing drug screening and physical examination by medical professional for the anticipated work requirements

Pay:

  • This is an hourly position; pay is dependent upon qualifications and experience
