Environmental Technician

Momentum Environmental provides industrial cleaning, waste management, emergency response and remediation services in the northeastern US and services a repeat blue chip customer base. The technician provides a variety of hands-on services at customer locations as part of an onsite team. The Environmental Technician (Technician) works as part of environmental field teams at customer or Momentum locations. While an entry level position, the Technician is afforded immediate opportunities to expand their skill sets and grow into higher level positions.


The Oswego Area Technician reports to the Supervisor and is responsible for a wide variety of technical, safety and operational responsibilities in support of the safe and profitable execution of environmental, industrial, remediation and waste services.

Essential Responsibilities

• Plays an active role in the Company’s Health and Safety system including safety planning, toolbox safety talks, near miss reporting and hazard communication.

• Performs technical and manual labor tasks supporting a wide variety of industrial cleaning, emergency response, waste management and remediation services.

• Participates in emergency response engagements by being a part of on call service rotations.

• Works directly with Supervisors and Project Managers to execute service engagements safely, on time and within budget.

• Operates small tools and other pneumatic and hydro driven equipment in support of cleaning or containment activities.

• Communicates regularly with other operational colleagues on technical and quality control elements of service engagements as well as dynamic schedules.

• Maintains an unwavering commitment to the adherence of all state, local, and federal environmental laws, and regulations.


Position Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required by the position. Core Competencies

• Ability to work safely and cohesively as part of a team with the desire to grow into leadership positions.

• At least 1 year of industrial cleaning or environmental experience is preferred

• Ability to develop an understanding of OSHA, RCRA, and DOT regulations as they relate to field services.

• High emotional intelligence and ability to develop relationships/ trust with team members • Strong verbal communication skills

• Ability to effectively interact with management, other departments, and vendors.

• Ability to travel to most areas of upstate New York for job site support.

• Able to work nights and weekends when needed.

Personal Protective Equipment

When working at a customer site or in a field environment, as appropriate, the ability to wear any of the following personal protective equipment (PPE) required:

• Steel toe boots

• Eye protection

• Hearing protection

• Gloves/ Hand protection

• Fire resistant uniform

• Head Protection

• Respiratory Protection

• Others as required by OSHA, Internal EH&S, and customer/ site EH&S Work Environment

While performing essential duties of this position an individual regularly works in a variety of environments, and is required to see, talk, hear, reach with hands, stand, walk, drive frequently, use a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment. Essential duties require bending, squatting, and twisting frequently. The employee will frequently be exposed to dirt, dust, and fumes. Noise levels of the typical work environment is moderate but may vary depending on customer site visits. The employee will occasionally be required to lift/move up to 75 lbs.
