Job description

Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Environmental Aide I (Housekeeping) for the Environmental Services Department.  Required hours are: 3:00PM - 11:00PM, including every other weekend and holiday.  Starting rate: $18.50/hr

Essential Function/Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment in cleaning all nursing units, patients' rooms and all other designated facility areas, including the floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture etc.
  • Follows the department's policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
  • Cleans up major spills when necessary and responds to pages in a timely manner.
  • Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
  • Removes all trash and linen within the hospital.
  • Follows directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio-hazard materials.
  • Makes periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area.
  • Reports any repairs to maintenance.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Position includes cleaning of bodily fluids.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required or will obtain within 1 year of employment.
  • To provide a safe environment to our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Solid work history a must.
  • Need to meet the fit testing requirement.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.

Relevant Experience:

  • Prior experience in housekeeping in either a hospital or institutional setting or a related field preferred.
  • Prior Floor-care experience preferred.
