About the role.

As the Environmental Supervisor, you will manage the full lifecycle operations of our water cycle - from the wells drawing ground water to our factory all the way to irrigation of our treated water. Our Wastewater treatment systems include but is not limited to; Covered Anaerobic Lagoon, secondary treatment facility, biogas operations, and wastewater Lagoon. You will lead and mentor wastewater treatment operators in the day-to-day operations, development, and continuous improvement processes of the facilities. You will ensure that McCain continues to meet environmental compliance with all applicable environmental permits and regulations. In addition, you will be responsible for driving environmental sustainability in the factory by meeting McCain corporate environmental initiatives in order to reduce our environmental footprint.

What you'll be doing.

  • Supervise Water Supply, Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations and other waste processes
  • Active participation in health & safety initiatives, taking a lead role in promoting and adherence to company safety work rules and drive towards zero incidents
  • Maximize biogas generation from the covered anaerobic lagoon system for eventual use in the boiler system
  • Monitors operation of spray irrigation lagoon system (pumping, pipeline, storage, infrastructure, repairs, etc.) and implement operational changes as required
  • Manage crop management plan (sampling, monitoring, testing, communications) with 3rd party farm base and local regulatory parties, as well as collaboration with McCain and the Agriculture Team
  • Responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with all wastewater, water supply, solid waste, air, and hazardous waste permits.
  • Prepares and maintains monthly reports in compliance of provincial and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure factory is in compliance with our environmental license
  • Active participant in the efforts conforming to ISO 14001:2015 EMS- Environmental Management System
  • Leads the initiative of waste to landfill reduction. (i.e. recycling, reuse, etc.)
  • Plans, organizes and directs the operation, maintenance modification, and improvement for the water and wastewater treatment plant
  • Manages Grounds year-round maintenance and personnel
  • Manage, track and deliver on McCain Carberry's Resource Efficient Operations action plan

What you'll need to be successful.

  • Certification as a Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator is preferred, although other similar education and experience may be considered
  • 5 years' experience in the operation and maintenance of water or wastewater facilities
  • 2 years' experience in a supervisory role or leadership role
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Effective communicator, active listener, and able to resolve conflicts
  • Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Passion for environmentally friendly practices

Compensation Package:$65,500.00 -$87,400.00 . CAD annually + Bonus Eligibility
