Reporting to the Environmental Coordinator, the Environmental Supervisor will assist the Environmental Director in the performance of their duties and responsibilities. The incumbent will work closely with personnel from various partner companies, external consultants, and other members of the Company, depending on project requirements and expected outcomes. Based at the Windfall site, located in Northern Quebec, the position follows a work schedule of 15 days on followed by 13 days off. Transportation, accommodation, and meals are provided. Temporary position, 2 years.

Duties and responsibilities                

Supervise operators and technicians involved in effluent treatment, as well as the Environmental Specialized Labourer;

Prevent environmental impacts through worker training, regular inspections, and any other measures implemented by the Company;

Ensure the proper operation of the effluent treatment system;

Supervise and/or perform water sampling (potable water, groundwater, ponds, effluent) and soil sampling;

Review water and soil sampling results and ensure proper filing and recordkeeping;

Enter sampling data into provincial and federal reporting platforms;

Manage spill response and ensure reporting to regulatory authorities;

Ensure the proper operation of the potable water supply system and septic systems;

Supervise the maintenance of surface water management infrastructure;

Supervise the management of hazardous and non-hazardous residual materials;

Supervise field and construction work related to environmental activities and verify the performance of installed systems;

Identify potential non-compliances and ensure the implementation of corrective measures;

Provide support for permit and authorization applications;

Ensure the procurement of products and services related to environmental activities;

Provide weekly updates to the Environmental Director;

Develop strategies to achieve established objectives;

Work as part of a team through collaboration, information sharing, and effective communication;

Promote and uphold the Company's values;

Prioritize occupational health and safety in the design, tasks, and work carried out for the Company and its affiliated entities;

Always promote environmental protection in decisions and actions, while considering sustainable development aspects (economic, social, and environmental);

Ensure that all Company environmental policies and procedures are implemented and complied with;

Comply at all times with health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations, and ensure that personnel adhere to them;

Perform any other duties related to the position of Environmental Supervisor.

Required qualifications

Hold a degree in Environmental Studies or a related field;

Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in an environment-related role;

Have three (3) years of supervisory experience;

Experience working with First Nations communities is considered an asset;

Experience working underground and completion of Mining Modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 are considered assets;

Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license.

Technical skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, etc.);

Proficiency in spoken and written English; will be required to supervise English-speaking employees;

Knowledge of applicable environmental legislation.

Basic skills

Strong team player with the ability to build and maintain relationships both internally and externally;

Flexible and open to change and constructive feedback;

Strong written and verbal communication skills;

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;

Ability to work in a remote environment.
