Job description

An excavation helper assists equipment operators and contractors by performing manual labor, including digging trenches, clearing debris, and transporting materials on construction sites. They prepare work areas, operate hand tools, and ensure safety compliance, often working outdoors in various weather conditions. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Site Preparation: Digging trenches, leveling ground, and setting up excavation areas.
  • Equipment Support: Loading/unloading tools and equipment, and assisting operators with machinery.
  • Manual Labor: Moving heavy materials (e.g., pipes, bags of concrete) and backfilling trenches.
  • Site Maintenance: Cleaning up debris and maintaining a safe, organized, and clean work area.
  • Safety Signaling: Operating as a spotter, flagging traffic, and signaling operators to ensure safety. 

Job Requirements

  • Physical Fitness: Ability to lift over 100 pounds, dig by hand, and work in trenches or confined spaces.
