We are seeking ambitious, inventive, and talented students to join the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard as early career researchers!
In the role of a Research Associate I, you will have access to the best technologies and sharpest minds that biomedical research has to offer. Research Associates' responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Validate provided technical protocols, test improved wet lab, instrumentation, and computational approaches for improved application performance
  • Work on independent and collaborative research projects, assist with lab experiments, and learn new techniques
  • Partner with lab members to design, conduct, analyze, and troubleshoot experiments Interface and collaborate with scientists, clinicians, and computational experts at the Broad and with external partners
  • Learn how to troubleshoot with support from your mentor to resolve problems and participate in new technology evaluation, development and implementation
  • Maintain meticulous records, analyze results, and communicate your work during team meetings
  • Join regular lab meetings, contribute to team discussions, support broader research goals, and potentially contribute to publications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least a current undergraduate senior with an expected graduation date of ~Dec. 2025 or ~May 2026
  • Majored in any life science, biology, chemistry, biotechnology, chemical engineering or similar degree program
  • At least 1 year of undergraduate independent research exposure that comes from extracurricular engagements (outside of coursework)
  • Can commit to staying with the Broad for at least two years
  • The Research Associate I role will accept Optional Practical Training (OPT). Candidates should have at least 24 months of OPT. It is recommended that you speak with your current or former school's immigration services team to learn more about processing timelines.

Candidates interested in the Broad Biomedical Post-Baccalaureate Scholars Program (BBPS) should complete an ECR application to begin the process. Visit the BBPS page for more details for application process and deadlines. Please note that the BBPS admissions process is separate from the ECR hiring process. Receiving a job offer does not guarantee admission into BBPS, but in order to be admitted to BBPS, you must have a job offer from a research group at the Broad Institute.

The expected base salary range for this position as listed above is based on a 40 hour per week schedule. Broad provides pay ranges representing its reasonable and good faith estimate of what the organization reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, qualifications, and other factors permissible by law.
