Job description

Location:  Projects may be located throughout the State of California and surrounding states, including Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico.

Travel:  60%
Primary Duties

Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Master Mechanic will perform scheduled, unscheduled, preventative maintenance, and repairs on a wide variety of industrial and small engine equipment to facilitate the forestry operations of Markit! Forestry Management LLC ("Markit!").

This position requires in-depth knowledge of maintenance, troubleshooting, and solving complex and frequent maintenance issues in adverse high elevation conditions.

  • Supervise and train mechanics and/or mechanics assistants in equipment maintenance and repairs. 
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with applicable original equipment manufacturers technical manuals; record maintenance, parts utilized and maintenance time using a cell phone, tablet and/or laptop in an online database.
  • Perform repairs on inoperable equipment; record repairs, parts utilized and repair time using a cell phone, tablet and/or laptop in an online database.
  • Perform repairs in one or more areas with little or no supervision in accordance with service manuals and manufacturers specifications.
  • Perform fabrication of hydraulic hoses.
  • Equipment includes Bobcat and ASV Loaders, Industrial Tractors, Delimbers, Skidders, Chippers, Log Loaders, Harvesters, Graders, Dozers, Excavators, Grinders, Generators, Pressure Washers, attachments, trucks and trailers.
  • Order parts by using online databases, manuals and catalogs.

What We Need

  • Proficiency speaking, reading and writing English
  • Ability to utilize a cell phone, tablet and/or laptop daily
  • Ability to learn and utilize computer system(s) required for multiple aspects related to this position
  • Willing to train in other skilled areas
  • Able to work any shift including weekends if required
  • Able to travel on short notice, some overnight travel may be required
  • Able to understand and comply with all parts ordering and issuing procedures
  • Able to work in adverse weather conditions, and austere environments
  • Able to lift 100 lbs. occasionally and 50 lbs. frequently
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to use precision measuring and testing equipment
  • Must be able to effectively troubleshoot and solve complex maintenance issues

What You Have

  • 15 years of industrial maintenance experience in at least two of the following areas: pneumatics, hydraulics, internal combustion engines (gas, diesel, LPG), transmission and general maintenance on heavy equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Works and interacts well with others
  • Able to deliver maintenance recommendations to the Fleet Manager in a concise and persuasive manner
  • Hard-working and detail-oriented
  • Acts with the highest integrity at all times
  • Comfortable in a rapidly evolving technical and entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to function with minimal direction
  • Adapts quickly to change
