Wood has an exciting career opportunity for an Entry-Level Civil/Geotechnical/Environmental Engineer. ย The successful candidate will support Wood's Geotechnical and Environmental Groups in delivering engineering services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
The candidate should have an educational background in engineering fundamentals, with an emphasis on geotechnical and/or environmental engineering (soil and/or groundwater); good interpersonal skills; written and verbal communication skills; and will be a proactive problem solver.ย This position offers the opportunity to work with, learn from, and be mentored by senior engineering staff while executing the following roles/responsibilities:
- Set up geotechnical and/or environmental investigations (i.e., driller acquisition, traffic control, permitting, utility locates, etc.)
- Perform geotechnical and environmental field investigations
- Sample soil, water, air, and waste, to characterize contamination, evaluate remedial progress, and/or support engineering analyses
- Perform basic support and design engineering computations, including quantity calculations, foundation design, slope stability, etc. under the guidance of a senior engineer
- Design or redesign layouts and drawings from general written or verbal specifications from the project team
- Prepare geotechnical and/or environmental design reports under the guidance of a senior engineer
- Prepare Work Plans, Operation and Maintenance Plans, and Sampling and Analysis Plans supporting site investigation and remediation projects
- Participate in routine operations and maintenance activities to support groundwater and soil remediation systems (e.g., soil vapor extraction systems)
- Travel to project sites in NM and the western US - approximately 50% travel
- Learn state and federal environmental regulations as they relate to the management and remediation of contaminated sites
- Participate in training events, project meetings, and engineering team meetings
Skills / Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Geotechnical, or Environmental Engineering
- (EIT) Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or the ability to obtain it within 1 year of hire
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. AutoCAD and MathCAD experience are a plus
- Self-starter with good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions, organize, and prioritize work to meet scheduled deadlines
- Superior time management, planning, and ability to interact with clients
- Work well in a team environment
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites in NM and the western US - approximately 50% overnight travel
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift 40 pounds and traverse rugged terrain
- Must pass drug test, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
