Job description

About the Role

The Project Manager on World Trade Center Department's Project Delivery team will own high-impact facilities projects at the 16-Acre Lower Manhattan World Trade Center campus from concept through operational turnover. The role will tackle creative, high-stakes challenges across a dynamic portfolio ranging from quick-turnaround operational fixes to major infrastructure upgrades. Driving these efforts forward means collaborating daily with internal experts and external partners to turn ambitious plans into reality. By expertly driving scopes, schedules, and budgets, the role will directly impact the Project Delivery Division's portfolio health and success. Ultimately, the role actively safeguards a premier global landmark, the World Trade Center, ensuring that this world-class campus remains an exceptional destination for all.

Responsibilities

  • Drive complete project lifecycles from initial planning and preliminary design through construction, final closeout, and operational handoff to facility management team.
  • Maintain continuous oversight and control over project scopes of work, schedules, annual spending, and overall budgets.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among internal teams and external partners to keep shared objectives aligned.
  • Prepare approval materials and detailed briefings to secure formal leadership authorizations and necessary funding releases across all project stages.
  • Track key performance metrics and report project performance through executive dashboards and recurring status reports.
  • Lead project progress meetings by establishing agendas, capturing key decisions and next steps, and holding cross-functional team members accountable to critical timelines.
  • Mitigate project and facility risks by maintaining risk logs and executing quick recovery plans for budget or schedule variances to prevent disruptions.
  • Evaluate early-stage project feasibility by analyzing operational needs, conducting technical assessments, and defining multi-year planning priorities.
  • Assemble and guide integrated project teams including professional and technical resources, and support services including assistant project managers and financial analysts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Policy, Business Administration, Urban Planning, Engineering, Industrial/Product Design, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in one of the following: project/initiative planning, project delivery, design or construction management, or owner's representation.
  • Relevant college or graduate-level internships, fellowships, and academic experience convertible toward the professional experience requirement on a month-for-month basis.

Desired Qualifications

  • Practical understanding of scoping, scheduling, and budgeting, with a proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with a track record of building relationships and collaborating across organizational levels.
  • Strong troubleshooting and decisive problem-solving skills, with the agility to adapt quickly to fast-paced changes and take initiative.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, with the technical adaptability to quickly master proprietary software and project delivery workflows.
  • Dedication to continuous improvement, process efficiency, and high service quality focused on customer and stakeholder satisfaction.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey anticipates that the actual salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on aspects such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal factors. The expected compensation range for this role is:

Minimum: $90,012 Midpoint: $117,018 Maximum: $144,014

In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits employees to work remotely a maximum of one day per week, subject to operational and business needs.
