Job description

Job Summary
ITS Team Support: Provide support as needed for ITS teams including Desktop Support, Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, and Software Development.
Customer Support: Interact with customers to provide general troubleshooting of supported hardware and software, as well as provide support and maintenance of ITS computer labs. You will also provide Classroom Services support of classroom AV equipment, user training, equipment delivery, and inventory management.
Responsibilities*
  • Provide technical support to users of PCs, Macs, and mobile devices, in response to specific requests and assignments.
  • Utilize technical administration privileges to support identity and access management functions such as two-factor authentication and password management.
  • Provide support to onsite and remote users.
  • Prepare written instructions to assist users and to document procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with University software installation and licensing policies.
  • Other duties, reporting, special assignments or projects as needed and assigned.

Required Qualifications*
  • Must be a current University of Michigan student to be considered for this position.
  • Be excited to learn about technology.
  • Be enthusiastic about providing great customer service and support.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Ability to work independently, assume responsibility and exercise good judgment.
  • Have the demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision in an environment with constantly changing priorities

Desired Qualifications*
  • Have entry-level knowledge of PC Hardware & Software
  • Have general knowledge of mobile devices, gaming systems, or other types of personal electronic devices.
  • Entry-level certifications such as A+, Network+, or similar are a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Modes of Work
Onsite
The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan
