Location: Vista, CA (North County San Diego)

Organization: Transgender Health & Wellness Center (TH&WC)

Position Type: Part-Time

Note: This is an entry level position into the company.  We strongly encourage applicants who are trusted leaders within LGBTQ+, BIPOC, youth, housing, healthcare, faith, and other underserved communities in North County San Diego to apply.

About Us

The Transgender Health & Wellness Center (TH&WC) is a globally recognized Trans Led nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse communities. We provide housing support, healthcare navigation, behavioral health services, workforce development, advocacy, youth services, and community programming designed to create lasting change.

As we expand our presence in North County San Diego with our new Vista office, we are seeking a dynamic and well-connected Community Ambassador to help strengthen relationships, increase community awareness, and connect individuals to life-changing services.

Position Summary

The Community Ambassador serves as a trusted representative of TH&WC in the community. This individual will build relationships with local organizations, community leaders, healthcare providers, schools, businesses, and residents while helping individuals access TH&WC programs and services.

The ideal candidate is passionate about community engagement, enjoys networking, and has strong connections throughout North County San Diego.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Represent TH&WC at community events, meetings, Pride celebrations, and outreach activities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, service providers, schools, businesses, and community leaders.
  • Educate community members about available TH&WC programs and services.
  • Connect individuals to appropriate TH&WC staff and services through warm referrals.
  • Support outreach efforts that increase awareness of transgender and LGBTQ+ resources.
  • Assist with organizing community events, open houses, and partnership activities.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration and strategic partnerships.
  • Maintain outreach records and provide regular updates regarding community engagement activities.
  • Serve as a positive and professional ambassador for the organization.
  • Assist in locating community partners that support donating directly to the TGI community.

Qualifications

  • Strong ties to the North County San Diego and Temecula community strongly preferred.
  • Experience in community outreach, advocacy, organizing, public relations, or nonprofit work preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comfortable speaking with diverse audiences, public speaking and building relationships.
  • Passion for advancing equity and supporting transgender, nonbinary, and LGBTQ+ communities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the region.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with LGBTQ+, housing, healthcare, behavioral health, or social service organizations.
  • Ability to effectively community and maintain professionalism even during adversarial moments.
  • Bilingual abilities are highly valued.
  • Existing relationships with community organizations and local stakeholders.
  • Strong creative and proactive skills to problem solve complex issues to reach goals and results.
  • Ability to work effectively in community populations.
