Job description

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for assisting with the maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance of production presses and manufacturing equipment. Working alongside experienced maintenance team members, you will learn to troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic systems, perform routine repairs, and help keep equipment operating safely and efficiently. This is a great opportunity for someone with basic mechanical experience who is eager to learn a skilled trade in a manufacturing environment.

The Maintenance Mechanic plays an important role in helping the plant produce high-quality products while minimizing equipment downtime. We are willing to train candidates who have mechanical aptitude, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn.

The wage range for this position is $24.00–$33.50 per hour, based on experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on web offset presses and auxiliary equipment with guidance from experienced technicians.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repairing production equipment.
  • Learn to read and use equipment manuals, blueprints, and schematics to complete repairs.
  • Help inspect, maintain, and replace mechanical components such as bearings, belts, gears, couplings, and pneumatic components.
  • Safely use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area while following all safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with press operators, maintenance team members, and supervisors.
  • Assist with basic welding and other mechanical tasks as needed.
  • Help identify potential equipment issues before they lead to downtime.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous mechanical experience through school, work, military service, automotive repair, farming, construction, maintenance, or hobbies is preferred but not required.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic problem-solving skills and willingness to ask questions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Must provide a basic set of personal hand tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

SCHEDULE:

This position works 12-hour night shifts (6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.), including weekends and holidays, on a rotating schedule of 3–4 days per week (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and rotating Saturdays).

COMPENSATION:

Employees can expect to earn $24.00–$33.50 per hour, depending on experience, knowledge, skills, and market conditions. Candidates with limited experience are encouraged to apply—we provide on-the-job training and opportunities for advancement.
