Service Category: Vocational/Technical Training (PSC U006)Position Summary
The Welding Instructor provides hands-on vocational training to students ages 16-24 at the Pine Knot Job Corps Center. The instructor delivers structured welding instruction, prepares students for industry certifications, ensures safe shop operations, and supports the center's mission of developing job-ready skills.Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver welding training in accordance with Job Corps curriculum and USDA Forest Service expectations.
  • Provide classroom instruction, practical demonstrations, and supervised shop practice.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and OSHA-compliant welding environment.
  • Assess student skills, track progress, and prepare reports as required.
  • Prepare students for entry-level welding employment and certification testing.
  • Maintain government-furnished tools, equipment, and materials properly.
  • Support center policies, student conduct expectations, and vocational readiness goals.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience as a welder and/or welding instructor.
  • Ability to teach multiple welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW).
