The Welding Instructor provides hands-on vocational training to students ages 16-24 at the Pine Knot Job Corps Center. The instructor delivers structured welding instruction, prepares students for industry certifications, ensures safe shop operations, and supports the center's mission of developing job-ready skills.Key Responsibilities
- Deliver welding training in accordance with Job Corps curriculum and USDA Forest Service expectations.
- Provide classroom instruction, practical demonstrations, and supervised shop practice.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and OSHA-compliant welding environment.
- Assess student skills, track progress, and prepare reports as required.
- Prepare students for entry-level welding employment and certification testing.
- Maintain government-furnished tools, equipment, and materials properly.
- Support center policies, student conduct expectations, and vocational readiness goals.
Qualifications- Demonstrated experience as a welder and/or welding instructor.
- Ability to teach multiple welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW).
- Knowledge of safety standards related to welding, cutting, and shop operations.
- Strong communication and mentoring skills for working with young adults.
