Microcom is a satellite communications company, based in Alaska. Our company sells and installs direct-to-consumer products including Viasat, Dish, DirecTV and Smart Home products from Google. We are also a distribution partner for OneWeb, a LEO satellite company which will provide broadband service throughout Alaska in the near future. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone to join our Technician team. You must have a willingness to learn and a drive to succeed. In this position, you will have the opportunity to learn about satellite technology and become an integral part in supporting all our projects. Opportunity is here and we provide the training.

What would I do?

  • Plans installations by evaluating location; locating line of sight; laying out equipment and wiring plans connectivity options.
  • Establishes satellite system by installing dish; running and pulling cable; programming and calibrating equipment; adhering to codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Verifies system by testing equipment and connections; identifying and correcting problems.
  • Insures system signal meets minimum requirements.
  • Observes picture on television screen to evaluate reception.
  • Communicates with dispatch department to update job status within assigned timeframes.
  • Provides paperwork to document installation, service and repairs.
  • Repairs service by listening to customer’s description of the problems; diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing problems by replacing and/or upgrading components.
  • Communicate with customers and ensure that the customer thoroughly understands how to work the system.

What’s required?

  • Good work ethic, willingness to learn, and a drive to succeed.
  • Current valid driver’s license and relatively clean driving record
  • Willing to submit to criminal background and pre-hire drug screen
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • The job is entry level, but you must be willing to learn and have the drive to excel. We do on-the-job training!

  • Exceptional customer service skills (you will be in customers’ homes)
  • Electrical, maintenance, or cable repair experience will help in cutting training time
  • Some sales experience is a plus
