What is an entry level UX designer?

Entry level UX designers are professionals who are just starting their careers in user experience (UX) design. They focus on creating intuitive and user-friendly digital products, such as websites and mobile apps, by understanding users’ needs and behaviors. Their responsibilities often include conducting user research, creating wireframes and prototypes, and collaborating with other team members to improve the overall usability of a product. Entry level UX designers typically work under the guidance of more experienced designers and may be recent graduates or individuals transitioning from related fields.

What types of projects and tasks can I expect to work on as an entry level UX designer?

While responsibilities may vary by company, entry-level designers commonly focus on supporting senior team members and learning industry best practices while gradually taking on more independent projects. Job description

The Role

We're looking for an experienced UX Designer Contractor to join Capco in Toronto, working four days per week in the office. This is a hands-on design role for someone who can quickly understand an existing digital experience, identify what needs to change, and take ownership of redesigning websites and user journeys from the ground up.

You'll work across domains, turning user and business needs into clear requirements, journeys, flows and high-quality designs. You'll be comfortable joining an established environment, getting up to speed quickly and working closely with stakeholders and delivery teams to move from requirements through to implementation-ready designs.

What You'll Do

  • Own UX design activities for website and digital experience initiatives, from discovery and requirements through to implementation-ready designs.
  • Assess existing websites and user experiences, identify usability and journey challenges, and redesign experiences from the ground up where required.
  • Create end-to-end user journeys, flows, wireframes, prototypes and detailed UX designs that simplify complex experiences.
  • Gather and translate user, stakeholder and business needs into clear requirements and practical design solutions.
  • Work closely with business, product and engineering stakeholders across different domains to support efficient delivery and successful implementation.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong professional UX design experience, supported by a portfolio demonstrating website design, major redesigns and end-to-end digital experiences.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of an existing website or digital experience and redesign it from discovery and requirements through to detailed design.
  • Strong experience creating user journeys, flows, wireframes and prototypes and translating complex requirements into intuitive experiences.
  • Excellent understanding of user-centred design, usability and accessibility principles, with the ability to explain and support design decisions.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving contract environment, build relationships quickly and collaborate with business, product and engineering stakeholders.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience delivering UX design within financial services, consulting or other complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience working across multiple industries, products or business domains.
  • Experience contributing to user research and usability testing and incorporating findings into design decisions.
  • Familiarity with established design systems and component-based approaches to digital design.
  • Experience partnering closely with engineering teams during design handover, implementation and design quality reviews.

Why Join Capco

  • Deliver high-impact technology solutions for Tier 1 financial institutions.
  • Work in a collaborative, flat, and entrepreneurial consulting culture.
  • Access continuous learning, training, and industry certifications.
  • Be part of a team shaping the future of digital financial services.
  • Help shape the future of digital transformation across FS & Energy.
