Job description

MARCOM STUDENT ASSISTANT

Division: Support Services Department: Marketing & Communications (MarCom)

Experience: Entry-level Job Code: FWSPRSTDAST

Supervisor/Reports To: Kate Hensley Start Date: 8/24/2026

Support the Marketing & Communications department with tasks related to photography, videography, social media content creation, and office duties. Ideal for creative students with an interest in digital media, storytelling, and communications.

Responsibilities and Career Competencies:

  1. Create content for the university's social media. C,T,EI, CSD
  2. Operate and manage the university printer. Prioritize print jobs based on importance. Keep track of paper inventory T, CSD
  3. Greet and answer guests' questions that come to the office when working at the front desk. P, C
  4. Complete finishing work on university publications (binding, cutting, sorting, etc.). T
  5. Provide administrative assistance, including picking up packages, organizing spaces, internet research or data entry. This could include using programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. TW
  6. Helping staff members with various projects/tasks. TW, CSD
  7. Maintain bulletin boards on campus by decorating and posting flyers. C
  8. Work with the MarCom team on campus events TW
  9. Maintain confidentiality, be punctual, communicate changes in work schedule in advance. Appropriate attire as discussed for work environment. P
  10. Other tasks, as needed or assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, flexible around class schedule, up to 10-20 hours per week.

Work Conditions: Office and event settings; may include indoor and outdoor environments. May be subject to noise, dust and machinery in the printer room.

Physical Demands: Keyboarding, reaching/handling, stooping/kneeling, pushing up to 20 lbs., pulling up to 20 lbs., lifting up to 20 lbs., carrying up to 20 lbs.
