Position Overview

The Junior Drywall Finisher is an entry-level position designed for individuals looking to start a career in drywall. This role primarily involves assisting your crew with various tasks while learning the fundamentals of drywall installation and finishing techniques. The Junior Drywall Finisher will gain hands-on experience and training, with the potential to progress to a Drywall Finisher as skills develop. The Junior Drywall Finisher reports to the Crew Lead.

Core Responsibilities
  • Support the crew with daily tasks and projects

  • Help maintain a safe and organized working environment

  • Smooth rough surfaces with sanding blocks

  • Engage with Crew Lead or experienced crew members to clarify processes and ensure effective execution of assigned tasks

  • Perform essential foundational tasks that facilitate crew operations and contribute to the overall success of projects

  • Care for and maintain provided tools and equipment

  • Assist crew members with loading and unloading materials, equipment, and tools

  • Shadow experienced crew members to learn best practices and processes

  • Communicate effectively with crew and Crew Lead regarding project progress and any challenges encountered

  • Accurately track and report hours worked in the provided project management program

  • Prepare wet compound for use on projects

  • Perform basic tasks such as measuring and cutting drywall 

  • Other related duties and tasks as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual: Able to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish

  • Valid driver’s license

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States

  • Attention to detail

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Effective communication skills

  • Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints and safety guidelines

  • Eagerness to learn and receive coaching 

  • Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly

  • Professional work demeanor and appearance

  • Good time management and self-motivation skills

  • Ability to problem solve

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work hard

  • Open availability to work an 8 hr shift between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs without assistance

  • Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 4 hours at a time

  • Ability to travel in a vehicle up to 2 hours

  • Ability to operate power/hand tools

  • Able to work in houses that do not yet have any heating or air conditioning installed year round 

  • Able to safely use ladders and/or scaffolding to reach high places

  • Manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, physical fitness, and good balance

  • Ability to bend and stoop as needed
