Job description

In our transportation group, we're seeking a confident and responsible transportation engineer who can assist with the development of transportation projects across Wisconsin, use design software to prepare engineering and design documents, and develop construction cost estimates for projects.
In this role, you will work both independently and in teams, solve problems, and use sound judgement to make sure projects finish on time and within budget. Strong leadership and communication skills will help you build effective teams. You'll also play a strategic role in transportation projects and participate in client interactions.

Responsibilities:
As a Transportation Engineer, you'll play a key role in leading and delivering successful transportation projects supporting our Wisconsin offices. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Work alongside experienced engineers on challenging transportation projects
  • Use computer assisted programs like Autodesk Civil 3D to prepare engineering and design documents, computations, and quantity estimates
  • Analyze and prepare reports, specifications, plans, schedules, studies, permits and other design document for projects
  • Assist with CAD-based design work and support the design and plan production of transportation-related projects
  • Develop construction cost estimates for projects
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders such as county and municipal governments and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), and building relationships to deliver impactful, community-focused projects and strengthen company presence
  • Conduct occasional project site visits to monitor the progress
  • Actively engage in local, statewide, and/or national professional organizations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil engineering from an accredited college or university or the ability to obtain the degree within nine months of hire date
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:
  • Passed Fundamentals Exam (EIT) or ability to within six months of start date
  • Past intern experience on transportation projects
  • Willingness to travel
