SBA Junior Credit Analyst - Rock Prairie

POSITION PURPOSE

With the assistance of senior team members, the Junior SBA Credit Analyst provides foundational analytical support to the commercial lending team by evaluating the financial strength and creditworthiness of small business loan applicants. Operating in an entry-level capacity, the primary focus oof this role is to develop expertise in commercial financial statement analysis, reporting and SBA regulatory guidelines (SBA 7a and 504 programs) This position serves as a training pipeline, transforming strong academic foundations in accounting and finance into practical skills required to assess risk, structure compliant loans, and support the credit approval process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
  • Financial Spreading & Analysis: Inputs and analyzes financial data from borrow tax returns, CPA-prepared statements, interim balance sheets, and profit & loss statements.
  • SBA 1502 Reporting & Compliance: Assists with the monthly preparation, balancing, and submission of the SBA Form 1502 report to ensure accurate tracking of loan disbursements, outstanding balances, secondary market payments, and SBA fee remittances.
  • Credit Underwriting Support: Assists senior team members in calculating and reviewing global cash flow, Debt Service Coverage Ratios (DSCR), and net worth by evaluating Personal Financial Statements (PFS) and tax documents as required.
  • SBA Eligibility Verification: Reviews loan requests against current SBA Standar Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure basic applicant eligibility, franchise approval status, and use of proceeds compliance.
  • Credit Memo Preparation: Drafts preliminary sections of Loan Approval Worksheets (LAWs) and credit memos, summarizing credit strengths, potential risks, and identified mitigating factors, as required.
  • File Management & Compliance: Monitors the collection of required underwriting documents and clears post-approval credit conditions to ensure files are complete for the closing team.
  • Collaborative Support: Partners with Relationship Managers/Loan Officers and other collaborators to promptly resolve basic financial data gaps or documentation discrepancies found during the initial file review and to provide preliminary SBA loan structures.
  • Supports overall team objectives by completing additional tasks as requested by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related business

discipline is required or equivalent practical experience.

Required Knowledge: Successful completion of core accounting courses (e.g., Financial and Managerial

Accounting) and finance courses (e.g., Corporate Finance, Financial Analysis) is

required.

Experience Required: 1 to 3 years of Commercial Credit Analysis experience

Skills/Abilities: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, data organization) with a

strong aptitude for learning proprietary banking and financial software.

High attention to detail, strong quantitative problem- solving skills, and clear written

communication capabilities.

Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or

ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Repetitive Motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or

fingers.

Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or

products or operate machinery.

Physical Strength Work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
