ย *(1st Shift Sun-Wed- 6:00AM- 6:00PM) *


Position Summary: The Entry Level Trailer Mechanic performs basic inspection, maintenance, and repair of trailers under the guidance of senior mechanics, helping ensure the safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance of the Company's trailer fleet. This role provides hands-on training to build foundational mechanical skills while supporting day-to-day fleet maintenance operations.ย 


Key Duties and Responsibilities:ย 

  • Perform routine inspections of trailers to identify mechanical, structural, and safety issuesย 
  • Assist in repairing and maintaining trailer components, including brakes, lights, tires, and suspension systemsย 
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as lubrication, fluid checks, and tire changesย 
  • Diagnose minor mechanical issues under the supervision of senior mechanicsย 
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and parts usedย 
  • Ensure all work complies with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Company safety standardsย 
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and in accordance with established safety protocolsย 
  • Assist senior mechanics with more complex repairs and learn advanced repair techniquesย 

Requirements

ย Preferred Skills and Experience:ย 

  • Vocational training or certificate in diesel, automotive, or heavy equipment technologyย 
  • Prior experience in trailer, truck, or fleet maintenanceย 
  • Familiarity with DOT inspection standards and regulationsย 
  • ASE certification, or actively working toward certificationย 
  • Basic welding or fabrication experienceย 
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)ย 

Physical Demands:ย 

  • Prolonged standing (warehouse/onsite support)ย 
  • Walking for extended periods across facilities or yardsย 
  • Lifting up to 50 lbsย 
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouchingย 
  • Reaching above/below shoulder levelย 
  • Repetitive hand/wrist movements (typing, scanning, equipment use)ย 
  • Operating equipment (forklift, pallet jack, etc.)ย 
  • Climbing stairs or ladders

Work Environment:ย 

  • Outdoor work (yards, loading areas, client sites)ย 
  • Exposure to varying temperatures (heat/cold)ย 
  • Exposure to moderate/high noise levelsย 
  • Fast-paced, high-volume operational environment
