Job description

GFT is seeking a Entry Level Traffic Engineerย to join our Transportation team in either our Owings Mills, Towson, or Fairfax! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at ourย office.ย

ย In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:ย 
  • This individual will primarily perform analysis and design activities on traffic projects but may be required to assist other departments as needed. Projects will primarily be located in the mid-Atlantic region but may also include occasional assignments for projects outside of the region. The successful candidate will work closely with his/her supervisor and more experienced project managers, engineers and designers.ย 

What you will bring to our firm:ย 
  • Bachelor's of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering or related field required, focus in Traffic preferred
  • 0 to three (3) years' experience in transportation and/or traffic analysis, engineering and design to include maintenance of traffic, signing, markings and signals; previous internship or co-op preferred.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) strongly desired.
ย What we prefer you bring:ย 
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation strongly desired.
  • Experience with HCS, VISSIM, Synchro/SimTraffic and Sidra software desired.
  • Experience with travel demand model software such as Cube considered a plus.
  • Experience with Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) considered a plus.
  • Innovative, strong work ethic and desire to learn and grow professionally.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously both independently and as an integral part of a design team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

This is mostly an indoor position, but some outdoor work is also required.ย  Some travel and some overtime required. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum 3 days of onsite office attendance.

Compensation:The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $80,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.ย Featured Benefits:ย  Hybrid (in-person and remote) work environment.
