Position Specific Summary
WID (Writing in the Disciplines) TA needed to support IBUS 4900W (Global Disruptions) in the Fall and the IBUS 4900W (ACE thesis class) in the Spring. The student must have, above all, writing skills with the ability to provide extensive feedback on student writing. Advanced research ability, stats skills and econometric modeling knowledge are all definite pluses. A student who has previously written an undergraduate or master's-level thesis is preferred.   

Job duties may include the following:
  • Assist in evaluating and grading the writing assignment in both courses. WID courses have iterative writing assignments designed to help improve students' writing, critical thinking, and research skills.
  • Co-design writing assignment staging, language, and scaffolding materials

Design and direct peer review assignments and meetings
Lead occasional writing/research workshops
  • Hold office hours to consult with individual students primarily about written assignments and research direction.
A working knowledge of international business or international affairs is preferred. The TA should feel confident interacting with and constructively critiquing student writing especially during the Spring thesis writing course. 


Additional tasks may include: taking class attendance and monitoring participation, providing support on Blackboard, monitoring student success in the class, and assisting the professor in the classroom.  Special projects or duties may be assigned related to specific course needs.

*Graduate students performing teaching functions or supporting courses with student interaction must be hired through the Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships.

Standard Position Description

The student will assist in supporting courses, administrative academic functions, and student success in the relevant course or subject area. Tasks may include: Checking class attendance and participation, grading assignments, taking notes during class, supporting student success in the class, and preparation of course materials. Special projects or duties may be assigned related to specific office needs.
