Our client seeks an entry-level Test Engineer to perform hands-on functional testing and certification of smartphones and connected devices to meet carrier quality standards before launch. The role executes manual test cases, documents defects, validates fixes, and supports a reliable customer experience across carrier-specific features and services. The position collaborates with OEM engineering, product, and network teams, and operates within a dedicated lab environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Execute manual functional, regression, interoperability, and acceptance testing on smartphones, tablets, wearables, and other connected devices.
  • Validate carrier-specific functionality including voice and video calling, SMS/MMS/RCS, 5G, LTE, NR, VoLTE, VoNR, Wi‑Fi Calling, data connectivity and handovers, eSIM and SIM activation, carrier apps and services, E911, roaming, Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, and tethering.
  • Verify compliance with carrier certification requirements, launch criteria, and quality standards.
  • Follow documented test plans and execute test cases across multiple software builds and device configurations.
  • Identify, reproduce, document, and track software defects using defect management tools.
  • Collect logs, screenshots, videos, and diagnostics to assist root cause analysis.
  • Validate software fixes through regression testing and confirm resolution without regressions.
  • Collaborate with OEM engineering, carrier development, and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate test documentation, execution results, and certification records.
  • Participate in daily project meetings and communicate status, risks, and issues.
  • Recommend improvements to testing processes, documentation, and quality practices.
  • Assist with maintenance of test devices, SIMs, lab equipment, and environments.
  • Stay current on smartphone technologies, OS updates, wireless standards, and new capabilities.
Experience Requirements:
  • 0–2 years in quality assurance, software testing, technical support, or related technical role.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify subtle software and usability issues.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with critical thinking under unexpected behavior.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working with multiple devices and software versions simultaneously.
  • Basic understanding of Android and iOS.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Helpful: familiarity with 5G, LTE, VoLTE, VoNR, and Wi‑Fi Calling; exposure to Jira or Azure DevOps; experience with test management tools; knowledge of carrier acceptance; understanding of SDLC and Agile; experience collecting logs with ADB or iOS diagnostics.
Education Requirements:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
