Job Summary
The Shop Foreman/Dispatcher is the technical leader of the service department. This role is the bridge between the advisor team and the technician team, ensuring repair orders move through the shop efficiently, accurately, and profitably. This role directs work distribution, supports technicians on diagnostic and repair challenges, enforces quality control standards, and drives shop productivity.

Responsibilities
  • Dispatch and prioritize repair orders to technicians based on skill level and shop workload
  • Provide diagnostic support and technical guidance to technicians on complex repairs
  • Coordinate daily workflow between service advisors, technicians, and parts personnel
  • Maintain proper scheduling and distribution of work to maximize technician efficiency
  • Perform quality control inspections on completed work before vehicle delivery
  • Monitor technician efficiency and productivity, identify and remove workflow bottlenecks
  • Support the multi-point inspection (MPI) process to ensure thorough, honest, and consistent vehicle inspections
  • Communicate repair status and technical findings to service advisors to support accurate customer communication
  • Coordinate with the parts department to minimize technician downtime
  • Mentor and develop apprentice and entry-level technicians
  • Assist the Service Manager with technician performance feedback and training plans
  • Enforce shop safety standards, equipment maintenance, and OSHA compliance

Qualifications
  • Previous automotive service department experience preferred
  • Experience as a dispatcher, production manager, shop foreman, service advisor, or similar role
  • Advanced diagnostic capability across engine, electrical, and drivetrain systems
  • Proven ability to manage a team with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
