Job description

Engineer I - Control System Engineer
This is an entry-level engineering position responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and verification of non-safety industrial control systems for greenfield and brownfield nuclear power plant projects across the world. This role is intended for early-career engineers who are building foundational experience in industrial control systems under the guidance of more experienced engineers.
The Engineer I operates as a contributing member of the control systems engineering team, performing assigned technical tasks while developing an understanding of control system design practices, engineering standards, and lifecycle processes.
What your day-to-day looks like:
Technical Support & Execution
  • Support the design and implementation of industrial control system solutions in accordance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
  • Assist with the development of control logic, configuration, and HMI functionality using standard industrial control system platforms and engineering tools.
  • Support the specification and integration of control system components, which may include controllers, IO, networks, power distribution, and interfaces.
  • Perform assigned engineering tasks under the direction of more senior engineers.
  • Assist with engineering analyses such as basic calculations, reviews, or assessments as assigned.

Requirements & Documentation
  • Support requirements interpretation and traceability activities within the control systems discipline.
  • Prepare and update engineering documentation, drawings, and specifications in accordance with established procedures and standards.
  • Assist in maintaining organized and accurate project documentation throughout the system lifecycle.

Testing & Verification
  • Support verification and validation activities, including development of test documentation, factory acceptance testing, and system-level testing activities.
  • Participate in testing activities by executing defined test procedures and documenting results under supervision.

Learning & Collaboration
  • Work closely with hardware, software, functional design, and testing team members in a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Learn and apply established engineering processes, tools, and best practices within the control systems discipline.
  • Actively seek feedback and guidance to build technical capability and professional engineering judgment.

Up to 25% travel may be required to support customer systems and critical project milestones.
What we'd like to see from you:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, or Computer Engineering
Experience/Requirements:
  • 0-2 years of engineering experience in industrial control systems or a related technical field.
  • Prior internships, co-op assignments, or project experience in control systems, automation, or related engineering fields are highly desirable.
  • Exposure to PLC, DCS, or industrial automation platforms through coursework, internships, or academic projects.
  • Basic understanding of engineering documentation such as schematics, P&IDs, or system diagrams.
  • Strong willingness to learn, ask questions, and develop technical depth over time.
  • Ability to follow established procedures, work effectively in a team environment, and manage assigned tasks with supervision.
