Your role and responsibilities
During your co-op, you will work alongside IBM consultants to support finance transformation engagements for clients across industries - gaining hands-on exposure to how organizations redesign financial processes, adopt new technologies, and drive strategic outcomes. At IBM, we prioritize continuous learning and mentorship, and as a co-op you could advance to our full-time
Associates program after graduation, based on results and performance.
  • Financial Process Analysis: Support the analysis and redesign of core finance processes (e.g., record-to-report, procure-to-pay, financial planning & analysis) to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in workshops and client meetings to gather requirements, document findings, and help synthesize information into actionable insights.
  • Operational Excellence: Contribute to process improvement models and support the development of business cases and solution recommendations.
  • Project Exposure: Gain hands-on experience with transformation teams and ERP-related initiatives; translate financial requirements into client-relevant terms and support KPI tracking.
  • Co-op Schedule: Year-long co-op at Penn State University Park, starting May 2027. Work up
    to 20 hrs/week during classes and up to 40 hrs/week during academic breaks.
  • Project Exposure: Gain hands on experience with transformation teams, enterprise-wide data integrations, and other initiatives. Contribute to your team's work by translating technical concepts into client-relevant terms and drive adoption of the KPI impact with key client stakeholders.

The primary internship program dates are May to July 2027 (10 weeks).

  • Currently pursuing a university degree with a track-record of academic success (preferred majors: Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, MIS, or related fields).
  • Strong interpersonal skills that enhance collaboration and relationship building, while managing dynamic workloads in an agile environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative and passion to actively seek new knowledge, embracing a growth mindset to assimilate diverse viewpoints.
  • Interest in finance transformation, ERP systems, or business process consulting.
  • Ability to work up to 20 hours per week when classes are in session (fall/spring semesters) and up to 40 hours per week during academic breaks (e.g., summer)

Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, or finance operations through coursework or extracurricular activities.
  • Exposure to ERP concepts or financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) through coursework, personal projects, or student organizations.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau) for financial reporting or business storytelling
