Description:

The Maintenance Technician Apprentice is an entry-level role designed to develop foundational maintenance skills in a manufacturing environment. Under the direct guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor and senior maintenance personnel, the Apprentice assists with basic repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, and facility upkeep. This role provides hands-on training and progressive skill development to prepare the employee for advancement to a full Maintenance Technician position. The Maintenance Technician Apprentice is expected to maintain a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and commitment to safety.


Daily On-Site Attendance.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machines, tools, and facility systems.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment issues.
  • Install new or replacement machinery and equipment according to specifications.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and maintenance requests to minimize production interruptions.
  • Document all maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Identify potential reliability issues and recommend solutions to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Use diagnostic tools, schematics, and manuals to ensure accurate troubleshooting.
  • Support predictive maintenance programs, such as vibration analysis, thermography, and lubrication checks.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
  • Maintain shop areas, tools, and parts inventory in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Coordinate with Production and Engineering teams to schedule maintenance without disrupting operations.
  • Participate in safety and 5S initiatives, daily meetings, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment or system upgrades.
  • Perform basic fabrication, welding, or electrical wiring as required for equipment upkeep.
  • Provide input to improve maintenance procedures and equipment performance.



Requirements:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but works under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and collaborates closely with Maintenance Technicians and Production personnel.


Environment/Physical Requirements


The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
  • Must be able to visually inspect and work around energized or moving equipment safely.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the manufacturing facility.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work


This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with a rotating schedule. Shifts may include: • 4:00 AM – 12:30 PM • 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM • 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM • 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM Occasional overtime, extended hours, or weekend work may be required based on production needs.


Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required. • Minimum 4 years of industrial maintenance experience required. • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. • Familiarity with maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and CMMS systems preferred. • Welding, fabrication, or PLC experience a plus.
