The Factory Operations team within the Weapons Production Directorate at Los Alamos National Laboratory (TRIAD) is looking for an exceptional Production Control Specialist to join the Material Resource Planning (MRP)/ Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Operations Team. We are seeking motivated candidates to fill a Production Control Specialist position to work in a manufacturing environment with an emphasis on electronic production planning, inventory control, and shop floor activities.
Production Control Specialist 1 Job Duties: The Production Control Specialist 1 (PCS 1) role is an entry level position within the Factory Operations Group MRP/MES team. The selected candidate(s) will have the opportunity to advance to a higher position after demonstrating basic working knowledge of MRP/MES and shop floor control duties.
Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing process within the Pit Technologies (PT) division.
  • Primarily handle record keeping in the Oracle Material Resource Planning system and the Solumina Manufacturing Execution System.
  • Support part delivery and support in shop floor operations.
  • Track progress of production floor activities using the MRP/MES suite.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.
  • Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team of system analysts, software developers, system administrators, and professional staff.
  • An active DOE Q-level clearance.

Essential Job Functions: The ability to lift and carry 30 lbs. and the ability to climb and descend stairs multiple times throughout the workday.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Work Schedule: This position may/will require 24/7 coverage, which could/will involve working a shift/weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for the shift differential pay when assigned by their manager. Shift/weekend assignments are at the discretion of the manager.
Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
