Job description

At District Photo, our employees are the heart of our company. We are seeking a BOM & Planning Analyst in our Beltsville Maryland factory
The BOM & Planning Analyst plays a foundational role within the Central Planning & Optimization team, responsible for the accurate creation, maintenance, and governance of Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the organization's ERP system. Accurate BOMs are critical to the integrity of manufacturing output, standard costing, and pricing, making this role central to the smooth functioning of the business.
This is an entry level role, ideal for a recent graduate looking to start a career in planning and manufacturing operations. Full training and support will be provided, so we are far more interested in the right attitude, initiative, and interpersonal skills than in previous experience. Key Responsibilities
  • Primary Responsibilities - BOM Creation & Maintenance
  • Create and maintain BOMs within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy and completeness across all product lines.
  • With training and support, carry out structured verification of BOMs to identify and resolve discrepancies, including structural integrity checks, component accuracy reviews, and assessing the impact of any changes before they go live.
  • Build effective working relationships with production and finance teams to gather the information needed to construct and validate BOM structures.
  • Support the ongoing ERP data quality programme, including identification of missing, duplicated, or incorrectly structured BOM records.
  • Maintain version control and change history for BOMs, ensuring an auditable trail of amendments.
  • Prioritisation of BOM reviews to focus effort on highest impact products.
  • Work with the Finance team to ensure BOM data underpins accurate standard costing for pricing purposes.
  • Over time, contribute to the development of BOM governance processes and data entry standards to ensure consistency across sites

Additional Responsibilities - Planning Team Support
  • Be open and available to help support the planning team on various activities such as; maintenance of routings, capacity analysis and production targets.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports and analysis that support planning decision making across the team.
  • Participate in cross functional planning reviews, bringing data led insights to discussions with production and operational teams.
  • Assist in identifying and documenting planning pain points where data quality or system limitations are contributing factors.
