Job description

Job Posting: Test Technician – Autonomous Vehicles & QA
Position Type: Full-Time
Rate: $31.55/hour
Schedule: Shift-based flexibility required (Early Mornings, Evenings, Overnights, and/or Weekends based on testing missions)

Job Overview
We are seeking a disciplined, proactive, and safety-focused QA Test Technician to support vehicle readiness, execute software and hardware test missions, and help maintain rigorous safety standards both inside and outside autonomous vehicles.
In this role, you will perform structured testing, analyze vehicle logs, document test tickets, and log new software or hardware defects in Jira. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams—including Computer Vision, Infrastructure, Sound Design, Vehicle Engineering, and Ride Operations—to accelerate autonomous fleet development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle & Mission Readiness: Execute pre-mission prep procedures, launching software across multiple vehicle devices, verifying software/hardware configurations, and confirming overall vehicle readiness.
  • Software & Hardware QA Testing: Support test missions in various roles inside and outside the vehicle, executing basic software operations, system checks, and data collection runs.
  • Defect & Ticket Management: Identify known and newly discovered bugs, document test tickets (ZPTs), log new issues in Jira, and communicate clear technical details to engineering teams.
  • Log Analysis & Root Cause Triage: Review vehicle logs and test data using internal diagnostic tools to trace system failures and support root cause analysis.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Provide clear written and verbal feedback to engineering teams, supporting defect resolution from initial discovery through validation.
  • Documentation & Safety: Complete required vehicle readiness paperwork, track operational metrics, and maintain a strict safety-first culture.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
  • Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in vehicle testing, complex hardware/software testing, or QA operations.
  • Defect Management Tools: Proficient in Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar issue-tracking platforms.
  • Technical Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly describe system defects to engineering teams.
  • Problem-Solving & Work Style: Proactive, resourceful mindset with a sense of urgency, high attention to detail, and ability to handle high-pressure test scenarios.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible shift schedules (early mornings, evenings, overnights, and weekends) based on operational demands.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Scripting capability in Python or another high-level programming language.
  • Familiarity with vehicle communication networks and buses (CAN, Ethernet, etc.).
  • Basic software QA testing methodologies and log-parsing experience.
