From earthquake and seismic engineering to the latest trenchless technology methods, Kleinfelder's Geotechnical Services support the planning, engineering, and construction of complex projects, and our specialists are leading experts in their fields. 

Step into Your New Role

As an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer, you will be working on a wide range of challenging projects to support our Geotechnical Engineering team in our New England Area. This role is available in Boston, MA office.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with geotechnical field work / analysis including soil and rock boring logging, test pit sampling, and infiltration testing.
  • Assign the appropriate laboratory testing.
  • Support subcontractors and vendors performing drilling, laboratory analytical services, maintenance, and excavation activities.
  • Review and interpret data and analytical laboratory results.
  • Prepare field reports, internal / external correspondence, technical reports and geotechnical analyses.
  • Perform the associated engineering analyses under the guidance of a professional engineer.
  • Work with design teams to incorporate geotechnical aspects into site designs.
  • Monitor and trouble-shoot geotechnical issues during construction earthwork and foundation construction.
  • Participate in Kleinfelder’s safety culture.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of science in geotechnical/civil engineering, geology, or a related discipline.
  • Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A thirst to learn and achieve continuous improvement in a team environment.
  • A can-do attitude and problem-solving mindset are essential,
  • Willingness to travel overnight (up to 50 percent of time) for drilling and construction observation assignments.

 

Preferred Certifications and Experience:

  • EIT or GIT is preferred (or the ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Experience with gINT, LPILE, SlopeW, and or CAD software a plus.

The expected salary range for the position is displayedin accordance withthe Massachusetts Wage Transparency Act. Finalagreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.Salary range: $64,000 - $86,000.
