YOUR MISSION We are looking for a Data Engineer I who is an exceptional early-career engineer with strong Python and SQL skills and a passion for solving complex challenging technical problems and dealing with a certain amount of ambiguity. This is an opportunity for a talented graduate to build real-world data systems and grow quickly in a fast-paced high-performance startup environment. RESPONSIBILITIES * Build and maintain data pipelines and data products and solutions using Python, SQL and modern cloud data platforms and technologies * Develop, test and troubleshoot data ingestion, transformations and workflows * Apply software engineering practices including Git, testing, and CI/CD * Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development and testing productivity * Collaborate with experienced engineers, take ownership, adapt and learn quickly and deliver solutions that directly support our data and other stakeholders QUALIFICATIONS * 0-2 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering * Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, Data Science or a related technical field * Excellent Python programming skills and a reasonable knowledge of SQL * Strong software engineering and problem-solving skills and one who is curious, takes the initiative and a quick learner * Willing to embrace the pace, ambiguity and challenges of a startup environment PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Has completed one or more internships, research or created projects in software or data engineering * Exposure or a decent understanding of Cloud Data Platforms * Exposure/Experience building with Spark, Airflow, dbt, Kafka or similar technologies * Experience using AI-enabled development tools and technologies What we are looking for: This is a hands-on entry-level data engineering role. The successful candidate should be comfortable writing code, solving difficult technical problems, be willing to challenge the status quo, collaborate with the Principal and Senior Data Engineers as well as the cross functional teams and deliver quality data solutions. COMPENSATION * Base Salary: Denver - $80,000 - $110,000, Long Beach - $85,000 - $115,000 * Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS * Work Location- Long Beach, CA, or Denver, CO. While we observe a hybrid work environment, you will need to be onsite as the business needs require. Onsite requirements are subject to change, particularly when work on classified systems is required.
