The General Engineering Lab Test Engineer is responsible for compliance testing, verification, and validation of Landis + Gyr products. In addition to testing, the General Engineering Lab Test Engineer develops, implements, and validates procedures, equipment and systems used to support testing in the General Engineering Lab as well as throughout North America. This is a hands-on, in-person role.
Handles R&D hardware, firmware, software, and completes solutions projects as part of a cross-functional team. Collaborates with team members and other R&D teams in design, development, and validation of complete Smart Grid solutions. Collaborates with team members for component delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review test plans, estimate project time and cost and communicate requirements to Lab Supervisor/Manager.
• Evaluate test parameters to ensure they are within the products compliance and functional specification.
• Analyze test data to ensure consistency with compliance standards.
• Design, develop, document, validate, qualify and implement test procedures, equipment, and platforms and perform testing necessary to ensure the quality of Landis+Gyr products.
• Ensure all tests implemented fulfill compliance requirements through data analysis.
• Convert test specifications into functional programs and procedures for appropriate operator level.
• Develop, document and train technical personnel on installation and operating procedures. Train and Mentor Coop Student Engineers.
• Determine appropriate data to be recorded and evaluated during the test process. Establish data flow and storage mechanisms.
• Install, calibrate, and certify test equipment in General Engineering lab
• Modify test systems, templates and procedures to support new products, revisions, features, and fix bugs: Determine tester reliability, validity, correlation and traceability
• Provide test, certification, and calibration reports; coordinate testing with external labs as needed.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the Lab Supervisor/Manager
• Represents Landis+Gyr in a positive, professional and enthusiastic manner when working with both external and internal customers.

• Knowledge of fundamental theories of power supply, microcontroller, high frequency signal characteristics, and digital signal characteristics.

• Knowledge of AMI and Smart Grid Systems and Solutions.
• Must be proficient with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Must have keyboard typing skills.
• Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to understand data effectively to solve problems and support ideas.
• Ability to design test methodologies.
• Ability to evaluate compliance with minimal oversight.
