Job DescriptionOperates polysomnographic recording equipment used to record and evaluate sleep/wake disorders.
Performs monitoring that includes transcutaneous and End-Tidal CO₂ measurements.
Scores polysomnographic recordings in preparation for physician interpretation.
Performs additional related duties as required.
Operates and calibrates polysomnographic equipment to ensure accurate recordings.
Reviews patient medical charts and confirms physician orders and required protocols.
Interviews patients to assess:
Performs research studies according to protocol, which may include:
Completes necessary patient processing and documentation procedures.
Applies and removes electrodes and monitoring equipment used in polysomnography, including:
Fits and troubleshoots PAP masks to improve patient comfort and therapy effectiveness.
Applies and titrates respiratory therapies according to physician orders and protocols, including:
Utilizes advanced titration techniques and interprets patient tidal volume and pressure support needs, particularly in patients with complex respiratory conditions such as:
Educates patients on the proper use of CPAP/BiPAP equipment.
Monitors sleep recordings, including patient positioning and sleep pathology recognition.
Identifies and records clinical and physiological sleep events.
Accurately scores polysomnographic studies for physician review.
Works with management to develop a professional development plan.
Attends educational in-services and training sessions as appropriate.
Cleans and disinfects equipment used directly on patients.

Minimum QualificationsPhysical Requirements (Medium): 20-50 lbs.; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs., 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs., 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs. max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. Environmental factors affecting conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock Floor Surfaces Hot/Cold Temperatures Indoor/Outdoor conditions Latex Lighting Patient care/handling injuries Radiation Shift work Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
