Siemens Smart Infrastructure is hiring a Technician Trainer for its Protection and Automation Panels operation in Wendell, NC. Reporting to the Production Manager, this position is responsible for onboarding and training newly hired technicians, establishing and reinforcing standard assembly guidelines, and supporting consistent execution of Industrial Control Panel (ICP) build processes across the shop floor. This role supports business processes, helps resolve technical issues, develops and improves training methodologies, procedures, and tools, and guides technicians in the interpretation and application of assembly standards, workmanship expectations, and safety requirements.
You will make an impact by:
  • Leading onboarding and hands-on training for new technicians, including entry-level hires with limited electrical, mechanical, or tool experience.
  • Teaching technicians how to assemble Industrial Control Panels (ICPs) and similar electrical/mechanical equipment using established build standards and workmanship expectations.
  • Training technicians on mechanical assembly, wiring methods, routing, crimping, torque practices, and safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Teaching technicians to read and apply schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, BOMs, and assembly drawings accurately during production.
  • Training employees on end-of-line testing processes, verification steps, and quality expectations to support complete and compliant builds.
  • Driving consistent safety, quality, standard work, and build execution by partnering with production, engineering, quality, and materials teams to improve training effectiveness and technician readiness.

Training & Support:
  • Develop, maintain, and improve training materials, assembly guidelines, work instructions, visual aids, and onboarding documentation for technician training.
  • Support cross-training and training matrix updates to improve workforce flexibility and technician development across the work area.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, follow-up, and skills reinforcement to help technicians build confidence, consistency, and independence in the role.
  • Reinforce tool organization, housekeeping discipline, and 5S/6S practices to support a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
  • Recognize that job descriptions are subject to change over time. You are expected to maintain competence, awareness, and compliance with your job.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
  • Experience building Industrial Control Panels (ICPs), including mechanical assembly and wiring.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, BOMs, and assembly drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and guide technicians in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-up skills with a focus on safety, workmanship, and standard work.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
  • Associate degree in a related technical field, or equivalent technical training.
  • Experience with Protection and Automation panels, Industrial Control Panels, or UL508A-related manufacturing.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or onboarding technicians in a hands-on production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial control components, panel wiring standards, and assembly workmanship expectations.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar systems and digital tools used to support training and work instruction documentation.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, standard work, and continuous improvement methods.

The pay range for this position is $50,377 - $86,292 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
