Job description

ModCorr offers rapid, efficient delivery and setup of minimum to maximum security correctional facilities and specialty units. All products are constructed offsite in a controlled environment and conform to the same building codes as traditional construction. ModCorrโ€™s safe, secure and high-quality units comply with all American Correctional Association (ACA) and American with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

The General Laborer / Utility Technician is responsible for providing general support across all areas of the manufacturing facility, warehouse, yard, and production operations. This position performs a wide variety of tasks to support production, material handling, facility organization, equipment setup, shipping and receiving, maintenance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role is ideal for individuals who are adaptable, mechanically inclined, and willing to assist wherever needed to support facility operations. The General Laborer / Utility Technician plays a key role in maintaining productivity, safety, cleanliness, and organization throughout the facility.

This position reports to the Production Manager, Operations Manager, or designated Supervisor.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Production Support

  • Assist production teams with assembly, fabrication, manufacturing, and packaging activities.
  • Move materials, tools, and equipment to support daily production needs.
  • Prepare work areas for production activities.
  • Assist operators and skilled trades personnel as needed.
  • Perform basic assembly and manufacturing tasks under supervision.

Material Handling

  • Load, unload, and transport materials throughout the facility.
  • Assist with receiving, staging, and organizing inventory.
  • Move raw materials, work-in-progress components, and finished products.
  • Assist forklift operators and shipping personnel with loading activities.
  • Maintain organized material storage areas.

Facility & Yard Maintenance

  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Perform housekeeping duties throughout the facility, warehouse, and yard.
  • Assist with facility setup, organization, and improvement projects.
  • Remove debris, scrap materials, and waste from production areas.
  • Support seasonal facility maintenance activities.

Equipment & Tool Support

  • Assist with setup and relocation of equipment and workstations.
  • Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections of tools and equipment.
  • Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to supervisors.

Shipping & Receiving Support

  • Assist with unloading deliveries and verifying shipments.
  • Prepare materials and products for shipment.
  • Package, band, wrap, and secure products for transportation.
  • Assist with inventory counts and warehouse organization.

Startup Facility Support

  • Support facility startup and expansion activities.
  • Assist with workspace organization and workflow improvements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks required to support facility growth and production demands.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Experience
