Job description

Metal Recycling Yard Crew

Company Overview

M&M Recycling is a growing, family-owned scrap metal company with deep roots in the Atlanta area. Our Austell, GA yard is busy, honest, and built on hard work and respect.

We focus on progress, production, and people. Many of our team members have grown their careers here, moving from entry-level yard work into leadership and skilled equipment roles.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on role in a metal recycling yard where you will help keep materials, machines, and workflow moving safely and efficiently. Whether you are just starting out or bringing years of yard or equipment experience, there is room for you to contribute and grow.

You will work with a team that takes pride in doing the job right, values safety, and believes in promoting from within. If you like working outdoors, staying active, and seeing the results of your effort every day, this is a strong long-term opportunity.

What You'll Do
  • Sort and grade scrap metal, learning how to identify different metals and materials accurately so they are processed correctly.
  • Load and unload materials using manual labor and, depending on experience, forklifts or other yard machinery to keep production moving.
  • Support daily yard operations by keeping materials organized, traffic flowing, and work areas safe and clear.
  • Work directly with customers during weigh-ins, basic quoting, and general yard service, providing respectful, efficient service.
  • Maintain yard cleanliness and safety standards so the site stays tidy, productive, and compliant with company policies.
What Success Looks Like
  • Within the first few months, you reliably show up on time, follow safety procedures, and independently handle routine yard tasks from start to finish.
  • You correctly sort, grade, and stage metals so that production and shipping run smoothly with minimal rework or delays.
  • You consistently help keep the yard organized and clean, reducing safety risks and improving daily workflow.
  • Customers, coworkers, and supervisors see you as dependable, hands-on, and willing to step in wherever the yard needs help.
What We're Looking For
  • Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions and doing physical, hands-on work throughout the day.
  • Reliable work habits: you show up on time, ready to work, follow instructions, and take safety rules seriously.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, communicate clearly, and treat coworkers and customers with respect.
  • Willingness to learn yard operations, metal sorting, and equipment use, with interest in growing into higher-responsibility roles such as lead hand or yard supervisor.
Compensation and Benefits
  • $16.00 to $20.00 per hour, depending on experience, with opportunities for growth.
  • Family-owned, people-first, growth-minded culture with skill development in the metal recycling industry.
  • Full-time role based at our Austell, GA metal recycling yard.
  • Mondayโ€“Friday, 8:00 AMโ€“5:00 PM, plus Saturday, 8:00 AMโ€“12:00 PM for extra hours.
How to Apply

If you are ready to work hard, learn the metal recycling trade, and grow with a family-owned company, apply today to join the Metal Recycling Yard Crew at M&M Recycling. Pre-employment drug testing is required.
