Job Description
Tennessee State University College of Agriculture invites applicants for the role of Technical/Grant Writer.
Main Responsibilities:
Provide editing and scientific/technical writing services regarding grant proposal
development for faculty within the College of Agriculture, to include copyedit of
proposal content, including reviewing for compliance, accuracy, and completeness.
Keeps abreast of sources for external funding and building strong relationships with private
and government funding agencies. Convenes with faculty to identify and clarify grant
opportunities for federal, foundational, and industry sponsors.
Research and identify faculty research interests and strengths, to facilitate alignment with
funding opportunities.
Project management of the grant application process through the university submission
system .
Impact statement preparation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Proven, demonstrable experience in scientific/technical editing and writing. Applicants will be asked to submit examples of scientific/technical writing.
  • A Bachelor's degree in agricultural communication, journalism, English or closely related field and at least 3 years related experience in academic/technical/ grant writing; or a similar Master's degree with two years of similar experience.
  • Experience communicating complex, technical issues to various audiences.
  • Experience working with others in a team environment to produce scholarly writing.
  • Familiarity with agricultural and/or scientific content areas.
  • Independent judgment, strong organization and communication skills, and superior customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas related to scientific research and research development.
  • Ability to translate technical/scientific concepts into clear, concise language for inclusion in funding proposals.
